VRM Trust (Village Reconstruction Movement) is a leading non-profit social service organization established in 1990 with a strong commitment to rural development, environmental protection, women empowerment, youth welfare, and sustainable community growth in Tamil Nadu. Registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975, VRM Trust has been continuously working for the upliftment of economically weaker communities and underprivileged rural populations through various social welfare initiatives, environmental awareness programs, educational support activities, and biodiversity conservation projects. Founded by a group of dedicated unemployed youth with a vision for social transformation, the organization has become one of the active NGOs promoting sustainable development and eco-friendly practices across multiple districts in Tamil Nadu.





Our Activities

1.

TREE PLANTING


Tree plantation and environmental conservation are among the major activities of VRM Trust. The organization creates awareness among the public regarding tree planting, biodiversity protection, forest conservation, and sustainable land management practices with the support of forest departments and environmental agencies. Farmers and rural communities are encouraged to participate in large-scale plantation programs, including sandalwood plantation projects in village areas and private lands. These green initiatives help improve ecological balance, increase green cover, protect natural resources, and promote climate-friendly environmental development across Tamil Nadu. Also now sandle wood planting in villages.

2.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Women empowerment is one of the core missions of VRM Trust. The organization works extensively to support women in achieving social equality, financial independence, leadership development, and self-confidence through awareness programs, self-help group activities, skill development training, and socio-economic welfare initiatives. VRM Trust has successfully implemented women empowerment projects across several districts including Tiruchirappalli, Pudukkottai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, and Thanjavur, helping women improve their livelihoods and actively participate in community development activities.

AWARE CHILDREN FOR PLANTAION

VRM Trust also focuses on creating environmental awareness among school students and children through educational campaigns, eco-club activities, tree plantation programs, environmental protection workshops, and creative awareness initiatives. Students are encouraged to develop eco-friendly habits, participate in green campaigns, and spread awareness about environmental safety using slogans, greeting cards, awareness rallies, posters, and community engagement programs. These initiatives help build environmental responsibility and sustainability awareness among the younger generation.

MAIN ACTIVITIES


Over the past two decades, VRM Trust has successfully implemented several impactful projects focusing on environment, education, women empowerment, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable rural development.
Major initiatives include the Tamil Nadu Biodiversity Greening Project (TBGP) covering 62 villages, sandalwood plantation projects, State Balance Growth Fund activities, rural awareness meetings, welfare support programs, and loan disbursement initiatives for economically weaker communities. These programs have contributed significantly to rural development, environmental sustainability, and social welfare in Tamil Nadu.

PRESENT ACTIVITIES


The present activities of VRM Trust include VCDN training programs in the Thanjavur and Tiruchirappalli district town panchayats, NEAC environmental awareness programs, watershed management projects, children’s parliament initiatives, yoga training sessions, free health camps, tuition support for school-going children, adolescent welfare programs, career guidance activities, women empowerment training, and environmental education programs. Through these initiatives, VRM Trust continues to strengthen community participation, social responsibility, and sustainable development practices across rural and urban communities.

3.

FOCUSING PLACES



VRM Trust has successfully expanded its environmental and social welfare activities across several districts in Tamil Nadu. The organization has covered 29 villages in Tiruchirappalli district, 22 villages in Pudukkottai district, and 15 villages in Ariyalur district while also extending activities to Perambalur, Thanjavur, and surrounding regions. The organization’s district-focused approach helps improve environmental awareness, women empowerment, biodiversity conservation, rural livelihood support, and sustainable community development through active public participation and government-supported initiatives.
